ARE THESE PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR MINDS?? THE COST TO ATTEND THE ONE DAY CONFERENCE is $895 per person!

Not sure there is that much value to this convention. What are your thoughts?

I'm guessing you don't attend the River City Group conference in Toronto then. They charge double that amount. It's worth it if you take maximum advantage of everything and make sure you use every second of your time rather than wandering around gawking, but my guess is that most people don't get the full value out of it.

A person I know in attendance at asroc said there were 67 heads and it was a one-day event and a first time one at that. Rivercity has been consistently raising their prices since their inception and their conference is a tried and true event. They have over 3,000 attend their conference. It is about the industry as a whole - so yes, way more value, way more networking opportunities, and it covers 3 days. A totally different scenario, venue, and organizers.

I think the point Tico was making is this: costa rica is an expensive place to hold a conference and a one day conference at $895 is a tad greedy especially on a narrow focus. Probably one of the reasons why it was not as well attended as one would have hoped.

should have said costa rica is an inexpensive place to hold a conference. The venue and catering would have been much less than at other locations.

Those are all very good points. Personally, I never pay that much to attend a convention. With the standard costs of travel, paying a large entry fee makes it very hard to really get one's moneys worth out of it. Generally, if it costs more than $300 to attend, I tell them to give me press access. So far, I've never had a problem with that and have gotten into most places absolutely free.
